About this guide

freycinetguide.com.au is an independent, unofficial visitor guide. We help people plan walks, lookouts, itineraries, stays and tours in and around Freycinet National Park, Tasmania — with a practical focus on Parks Pass versus camping, a first Wineglass Lookout visit, and picking one main walk instead of three.

We are not Parks & Wildlife Service Tasmania (PWS), the Tasmanian Government, Tourism Tasmania, or any other government agency or commercial tourism operator unless explicitly stated.

Four facts that only make sense here (they would be false on a Blue Mountains or Wilsons Promontory page): a Tasmania Parks Pass is required and there is no Freycinet-only day ticket; peak vehicle camping uses an early-August ballot (18 Dec–10 Feb plus Easter); the Walking Tracks Car Park is the one sealed trailhead that fills; Mount Amosis a wet-granite skip and overnight walking is fuel-stove only. Hobart is about 2.5–3 hours via the A3 then C302 — not a Sydney–Katoomba half-day and not a Melbourne–Tidal River gate.

We acknowledge Palawa / Tasmanian Aboriginal people and their continuing connection to this Country. Cultural notes on this site stay light and sourced from official Parks Tasmania acknowledgements. This site does not speak for Traditional Owner groups or for Parks Tasmania.

Parks Pass and official PWS camping bookings are never affiliated.

How we work (accuracy policy)

We read Parks Tasmania pages, check Parks Pass versus camping systems, and write the Wineglass, Hazards Circuit and Peninsula Circuit notes in ordinary planning language. We do not invent live track status, guaranteed open or closed claims, or official fee tables as permanent facts.

  • Distances, grades, fees and open/closed status must be verified on official Parks Tasmania pages before you travel. We never invent live closures.
  • Site-wide content review date: . Individual pages may note the same stamp.
  • This site does not publish a public contact email — see Contact for official park channels and site expectations.

National Parks Guide Australia network

This is one deep park guide (Freycinet) in the National Parks Guide Australia network of independent visitor guides. The visitor-facing hub is National Parks Guide Australia — browse the directory, multi-park “best for” collections and how the network works. The publisher remains Farming Domains (see above).

Freycinet sits on hub collections for east-coast granite walking and trips that are not a casual Hobart day — 2.5–3 hours each way on the A3 then C302, with one sealed trailhead that fills. That is false for Mount Field’s Russell Falls day and for a Sydney harbour picnic.
